Who We Are

Our Mission

To provide hope and healing for children who have been abused and their families through coordinated services in a child-friendly place.

History

KIDS Place is a private, non-profit agency, founded in June 1991, by concerned citizens who wanted to improve services for abused and neglected children in Macon County. Children are not housed at KIDS Place, but the center provides a home-like environment where a specially trained team of professionals can interview children about reports of abuse, preform medical exams and provide counseling.

Kids InterDisciplinary Services, Inc. is a multidisciplinary team made up of representatives from the Department of Social Services, Law Enforcement, District Attorney’s Office, Pediatricians, Child Therapists, and others. There is no charge to KIDS Place clients for counseling or other services. KIDS Place is able to bill Medicaid and other insurance companies when possible.

KIDS Place is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance having been a member of that agency since its inception. KIDS Place is also a member of Children’s Advocacy of North Carolina, Inc. and an affiliate member of Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina.
